VEILS OF TIME
Time consists only of the past and future. It is life which consists of the present. Most of us are trapped in time – in our past or in the future. Thus, we can never feel the genuine peace and bliss of the present moment. Yet, it is the appreciation of the present moment that gives us the knowledge and awareness of our soul, of our true inner existence. It involves transcending and dissolving time. The inspiration behind the NARCISS Spring/ Summer 2011 collection derives from the various insects, shells, leaves and other plants trapped in amber, which you can often find washed up on the shores all over the Baltic. These vestiges of the past have travelled through time, yet have preserved their original form in the amber despite the invisible layers of time. The NARCISS collection illustrates the aesthetics of the past with current technology. Stone-washed silk dresses in subtle blue and taupe colours along with light chiffon and super-soft cupro twill garments turn into time capsules, recording and creating time. Accessories – belts and necklaces with natural shells and stones covered by transparent plastic – bring together the past and future giving you the chance to enjoy the present.
